Frosh/Soph Boys, Girls Scores -- Dec. 3

TEUTOPOLIS -- Tetuopolis picked up two victories over Effingham St. Anthony in freshman/sophomore boys basketball action, both by the same 48 points scored Thursday.

The Shoes won the freshman contest 48-40. T-town took a 22-20 halftime lead then had a 14-9 third quarter run. Dawson Smith scored 15 for the winners. Bryson Wall tallied 11 for the Bulldogs.

In eighth-grade play, T-town won 48-43. Lee Hardiek led the way with 19 points.  Alex Deters scored nine and Alex Beesley six for the Bulldogs.

At Mattoon

Effingham split victories with Mattoon Thursday evening.

Mattoon won the freshman contest 46-22. The Green Wave held only a 19-17 halftime lead then had an 18-3 third quarter run. Effingham was led by Cooper Jackson with 10 points.

In the sophomore contest, Effingham picked up a 61-40 victory. The Hearts trailed Mattoon 20-18 at halftime but came back with a 19-10 third quarter run and outscored the Green Wave 24-10 in the final period.

Ryan Sandifer had a whopping 30 points, 13 coming in the third quarter and 10 in the final period.  Also in double figures was Brett Koester with 10.
