ALTAMONT -- Effingham St. Anthony claimed a seventh-grade B boys basketball game victory over Altamont Lutheran Tuesday evening.

Altamont Lutheran held a 12-6 halftime lead. The Bullpups came back with a 20-12 second half run. Utz tallied seven points for the winnenrs.

Altamont Lutheran was led by Ruffner with seven points and Klimpal with six.

At Effingham

Effingham defeated Salem Franklin Park in both seventh and eighth grade play.

The Mustangs won the seventh-grade encountr 51-22. Effingham had an 18-7 first quarter score and a 16-7 third period surge. Wolfe scored 14 for the winners and improved to 6-3.

In the eighth-grade contest, the Mustangs outscored Salem Franklin Park 51-37. Utz led the way with 19 points. Snow had five steals. Shackelford and Pemberton had six rebounds each. The Mustangs are now 3-6 on the season.

At Effingham

Sigel St. Michael picked up two wins over host Effingham Sacred Heart Tuesday.

The Sharpshooters won the seventh-grade contest 41-20. Croy scored 16 for the winners. The Shamrocks were led by Tegler with nine.

In the eighth-grade contest, St. Michael won 46-14. Croy tallied 14 while K. Fearday had 13 for the Sharpshooters. Sacred Heart was led by Tegler with five.

At Neoga

Neoga nabbed two wins over Stewardson-Strasburg in action Tuesday evening.

Neoga won the seventh-grade game 34-28. Stew-Stras took a 22-16 halftime lead but Neoga came back with an 18-6 second half run. Vaughn scored 16 and McClure 14 for the winners. Wernsing led Stew-Stras with 16 as the Stars fell to 1-4 in the National Trail Conference, 2-7 overall.

In eighth-grade play, Neoga won 36-24. Johnson scored 17 and Roy 10 for the winners. Stew-Stras was led by Jesgarz with 13. The Stars are 1-4 in the conference, 2-7 overall.

At Marshall

In seventh-grade action, Teutopolis defeated Marshall 43-39. The two were tied at 13-13 after the opening quarter. T-town then pushed ahead 27-20 at halftime and held off Marshall in the second half.

M. Deters led the Shoes with 13 points while Kremer chipped in with nine.

In eighth-grade action, Teutopolis claimed a 29-25 victory. Marshall held a 12-8 opening quarter lead but trailed T-town 18-16 at halftime. Both teams scored two points in the third quarter. T-town had a 9-7 final period run.

T-town was led by Hardiek with 14 points.

Newton St. Thomas captured an eighth-grade victory over Palestine 34-30.

St. Thomas led 19-16 at halftime then had a 13-4 third period run. Will Ochs scored 12 and Seth Weber 10 for the winners who improve to 7-2.
