Altamont Third at Cumberland Boys Tourney, N.C. Loses At Carlyle

TOLEDO -- Altamont High School captured third place in the Cumberland Boys Thanksgiving Tournament Saturday.
Newton edged out to an 18-17 opening quarter lead but the Indians came back with a 16-14 second period run to lead 33-32 at halftime. The Indians then had a 15-9 third period lead.
Mayhaus led the way for the Indians with 17 while Armstrong tallied 16 and K. Wolff 14.
Newton was led by Mammoser with 20 points.
In the championship game, Charleston claimed a 66-43 win over Chrisman.
Dieterich took fifth place by downing Paris 65-50. Dieterich trailed the Tigers 18-15 after one quarter and 27-23 at halftime. The Maroons started moving in the third quarter with an 18-12 run and pulled ahead 41-39. Then the Maroons outscored Paris 24-11 in the final quarter.
L. Niemerg scored 14, Howell 12 and Feldhake 11 for the Maroons.
The seventh place contest went to Cumberland over Neoga 61-33. The Pirates held a 32-15 halftime lead and never looked back. Three players hit double digits, McMechan had 13, Green 12 and Magee 11. Neoga was led by Abernathy and Holt with seven points each.
Named to the All-Tournament team were Will Strader (Charleston, MVP), Tyler Owen (Chrisman), Brock Mammoser (Newton), Ryan Armstrong (Altamont), Brian Porter (Chrisman), Connor Polk (Paris), Travis Niemerg (Dieterich), Lance Niemerg (Dieterich), Brandon Shaon (Cumberland) and Wyatt Garrett (Charleston).

At Carlyle
North Clay (Louisville) dropped a 72-31 decision to Okawville in the Carlyle Kaskaskia Classic Saturday.
Okawville surged out to a 28-9 first quarter lead and that was the contest. North Clay was led by Collin Warren with 14 points and Clayton Halterman with 10.
The Cardinals will now face Flora at the tournament Wednesday.
