Effingham St. Anthony split junior high boys basketball victories with Vandalia Tuesday evening.

The Bullpups won the seventh-grade game 46-28. St. Anthony held a 24-17 halftime lead then had a 14-7 third quarter surge. Walsh tallied 16 and Moore 10 for the winners.

In the eighth-grade game, St. Anthony fell behind early but came back with a 23-15 third quarter run to pull ahead 48-47 going into the final quarter. Vandalia then had 13-10 lead to claim the 60-58 win.

Dust tallied 30 to lead the Bullpups while Hoene added 11 and Tingley 10.

At Mattoon

In B action, Effingham downed Mattoon twice Tuesday evening.

The Mustangs won the seventh-grade B contest 39-11 with a 14-4 first quarter run. Thompson and Woelfer tallied six points each for the winners.

In the eighth-grade B game, Effingfham was a 45-17 winner. Utz led in scoring with 13 and rebounds with six.

At Effingham

Effingham Sacred Heart defeated Windsor in both games Tuesday.

The Shamrocks won the seventh-grade encounter 33-27. Tegeler scored 11 for the winners. Wheeler led Windsor with 14.

In eighth-grade action, Sacred Heart won 30-22. Tegeler scored seven while Conkling added six for the Shamrocks. Windsor was led by Domzalski and Mulligan with six each.

Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick and Stewardson-Strasburg split victories Tuesday evening.

BCCH won the seventh-grade game 41-37 with a 24-16 second half run after trailing 21-17 at halftime. Robertson scored 15 and Persinger 12 for the winners. Wernsing led the Stars (2-5) with 21.

In the eighth-grade game, Stew-Stras improved to 2-5 with a 39-26 win over BCCH. BCCH led 18-13 at halftime before Stew-Stras came back with a 26-8 second half run.

Kirby led the winners with 23 points. BCCH was led by Robertson with 10.
