Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor captured the championship of its own Eighth-Grade Girls Basketball Tournament Saturday.

Stew-Stras/Windsor defeated Effingham Sacred Heart 21-15 in opening round play. Nichols tallied 10 for the winners. The Shamrocks were led by Carie with six.

Effingham St. Anthony handed Cumberland a 16-6 loss. Coffin scored eight for the winners.

In the third place game, Cumberland defeated Sacred Heart 20-15. Cumberland led 12-9 at halftime then had an 8-6 second half run. Hendrix tallied 10 for the winners. McDevitt led Sacred Heart with four.

In the championship contest, Stew-Stras/Windsor scored a 22-15 win over St. Anthony. Stew-Stras/Windsor jumped out to a 12-6 first half lead. Nichols tallied eight while Hayes had six for the winners. Coffin led St. Anthony with six.

At Monticello

Teutopolis split wins with St. Joseph then captured two victories over Monticello in the Monticello Shootout Saturday.

The Shoes fell in seventh-grade play 22-21 to St. Joseph in overtime. T-town held a 16-13 lead going into the final quarter. St. Joseph came back to knot the score at 19-19 sending the game into overtime where it outscored the Shoes 3-2 for the win.

Carly Michels led T-town with 16 points.

In the eighth-grade contest, T-town was a 25-20 winner. T-town stepped out to a 12-4 first half lead then held off St. Joseph in the final quarter.

At Marshall

Jasper County split victories with Marshall in action Saturday.

Marshall claimed the seventh-grade contest 19-16, despite Jasper County outscoring the winners 8-6 in the second half. Madison Blake led Jasper County with nine points.

In the eighth-grade game, Jasper County claimed a 45-27 win. Eliza Bierman tallied 10, Abby Stone nine and Josie Grunloh nine for the winners.
