Effingham Sacred Heart picked up an eighth-grade victory over Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor in junior high school girls basketball action Tuesday.

The Shamrocks defeated SSW 23-18 to improve to 1-12 on the season. Sacred Heart led 13-6 at halftime and 19-10 going into the final quarter. Feldhake tallied 10 and Carie nine for the winners. SSW was led by Davis and Nichols with five each.

In seventh-grade competition, Stew-Stras/Windsor was a 25-14 winner. Hoene scored eight and Megan Nichols seven for the winners.  Sacred Heart was led by Karolewicz with six as the Shamrocks fell to 9-7 overall.

At Lawrenceville

Jasper County split close games with Lawrenceville Tuesday evening.

Lawrenceville edged Jasper County 24-22 in seventh-grade play. Whitney Zumbahlen led JC with seven points.

In eighth-grade play, Jasper County claimed a 35-33 win. Jasper County trailed Lawernceville 33-21 going into the final quarter and held Lawrenceville scoreless while tallying 14 points to pull out the victory.

Eliza Bierman and Reneae Russell scored seven each for the winners.

At Beecher City

Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick Junior High School split victories with Pana Sacred Heart Tuesday.

BCCH won the seventh-grade contest 21-20. Sacred Heart held a 7-6 first half lead but BCCH came back to tie the score at 17-17 going into the final quarter then had a 4-3 edge.

Carsen Burks tallied nine and Madison Cherry eight for the winners who improve to 12-2.

In eighth-grade action, Pana Sacred Heart took a 28-21 win. Sacred Heart held a 22-10 hafltime lead. BCCH was led in scoring by Lauren Wojcik with nine points as the squad fell to 9-5.
