NTC Eighth-Grade Girls Tournament -- Oct. 31

Brownstown/St. Elmo captured the championship of the National Trail Conference Eighth-Grade Girls Basketball Tournament Saturday.

BSE handed Sigel St. Michael a 38-21 loss in the title contest game. BSE held a 20-13 halftime lead then had a 13-8 third period run and held St. Michael scoreless in the final quarter.

Claire Wilhour tallied 22 points for the winners. St. Michael was led by Micah McWhorter with 10.

In the third place game, Altamont downed Neoga 30-19. Mary Guse scored nine and Rachel Jackman eight for the winners. Olivia Titus and Molly Sheehan had four points each for Neoga.

In the consolation championship, Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick beat Dieterich 34-30. Dieterich held an 11-10 first half lead. BCCH tied the score at 19-19 in the third quarter and the game went into overtime after a 27-27 tie. In the OT period, BCCH outscored Dieterich 7-3.

Luaren Wojcik scored 13 and Jaelyn Robertson 10 for the winners. Andrea Bierman led Dieterich with 13.

In Friday action, Dieterich beat Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor 27-20, BSE edged Neoga 26-24 in overtime and St. Michael downed Altamont 28-15.
