EIU Men's, Women's Basketball Blue Madness Was Held

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois men’s and women’s basketball got an early start on both Halloween and the 2015-16 season on Monday night with the annual Blue Madness in Lantz Arena.

The teams were introduced to the public followed by a 3-point shooting contest won by seniors Alece Shumpert and Luke Norman. A skills obstacle course was then displayed with senior women’s basketball player Shakita Cox winning with a time of 29 seconds.

Following the events on the floor, area kids were invited to trick-or-treat at Lantz Arena with a nice crowd on hand.

EIU men’s basketball opens the exhibition season on Tuesday, Nov. 3 hosting Saint Francis at 7 p.m. in Lantz Arena. The season opener for the Panthers is Friday, Nov. 13 at Indiana. The home opener is Saturday, Nov. 21 against Western Illinois at 7 p.m. in Lantz Arena. That is a 2-for-1 promotion day, buy a ticket to the afternoon football game against Eastern Kentucky at 1 p.m. and get into the men’s basketball game for free.

The women’s team will open the regular season at home hosting IUPUI at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 13.
