An Effingham High School graduate is the first coach of the new Windsor/Stew-Stras boys basketball program.

Cody McCollum was approved by the Windsor School Board at this month's meeting. The Stew-Stras Board is expected to concur in the hiring at their meeting this week.

McCollum had been serving as assistant coach at Stewardson-Strasburg. The two school districts decided to combine their programs after earlier agreeing to co-op in other sports.

McCollum was a 1,000-point career scorer at Effingham High School, currently standing seventh on the list with 1,199 career points. He also played at Parkland Community College. He's a 2010 EHS graduate.

McCollum's father, Mike, was a teacher and coach at Dieterich before becoming an administrator in the Effingham Unit 40 School District, retiring as principal at EHS.
