Parkland Picks Up Big Win in NTCAA DII Nationals

OVERLAND PARK, KS. -- Parkland College handed Chesapeake College a 99-71 loss in the second round of the NTCAA Division II Women's Basketball Nationals Thursday.

Parkland held only a 41-40 lead at the half but came back with a 58-31 second half run. Effingham graduate Josie Zerrusen connected on four of six field goals, one of one from three point range and two of two at the line for 11 points for the winners. She had six assists, five rebounds and a steal.

Four other players scored in double figures for the winners. Hannah Wascher had 26, Chelsea Cross 17, Laura Litchfield 15 and Nadine Vaughn 11.

Parkland is now 34-1 on the season and will now face Monroe at 8 p.m. today. Monroe defeated Guilford Tech 90-73.
