Zerrusen Scores in Double Figures As Parkland College Advances At Nationals

OVERLAND PARK, KS. -- The Parkland College women's basketball team advanced from opening round play in the NJCAA Division II Nationals Tuesday.

Parkland claimed a 57-52 win over Phoenix College. Effingham High School graduate Josie Zerrusen scored 11 points for Parkland. She connected on three of 10 field goals, including two of three from three-point range and was three of four at the free throw line. She had a rebound and two assists.

Parkland had two other players in double figures, Hannah Wascher with 22 points and Laura Litchfield with 13 points.

Parkland advances with a 33-1 record and will face Chesapeake at 6 p.m. Thursday.
