Finals Set for Boys 1A, 2A State Tournaments

The finals are set for the Class 1A and 2A Boys Basketball State Tournaments in Peoria.

Friday afternoon, Mounds Meridian defeated Forreston, 50-35, and Brimfield won over Colfax Ridgeview, 53-34 in the 1A semifinals.

Friday evening, Decatur St. Teresa downed Taylor Ridge Rockridge, 50-39, while Chicago Uplift defeated Breese Mater Dei, 72-50 in the 2A semifinals.

In the 1A finals today, Forreston will play Colfax Ridgeview at 12:15pm for third place, then Mounds Meridian will take on Brimfield at 2pm for the championship.

In the 2A finals tonight, Taylor Ridge Rockridge will play Breese Mater Dei at 6:30pm for third place, then Decatur St. Teresa will take on Chicago Uplift at 8:15pm for the championship.

Also Friday, Dylan Back of Patoka lost in the finals of the Country Financial Three-Point Challenge. Back hit 10 threes in the first round of the finals as did Jonathan Barth of Flanagan. In the shootout, Back hit three of six, but Barth made all six of six to claim the King of the Hill title in Class 1A.
