Local Players Compete in Country 3-Point Showdown

PEORIA -- Two area players competed in the Country 3-Point Showdown at Peoria's Carver Arena Thursday.

Stewardson-Strasburg's Mark Jones, a senior, and Windsor's Tristan Warner, a junior, both nailed eight three-pointers but it wasn't enough to advance to the finals.

Advancing were Dylan Back (Patoka) with 10, Jonathan Barth (Flanagan-Cornell) with nine and six in the shootoff, Matthew Hadel (Polo) with nine, four in the first shootoff and five in the second shootoff and Andrew Davis (White Hall North Greene) with nine and seven in a shootoff.

In Class 2A, advancing were Derek Oxford (Benton) with 14, Noah Hogue (Morrison) with 11, Eric Higgs (Farmington) with 10, seven in a shootoff and Drake Baker (Macon Meredian) with 10, six in the first shootoff and seven in the second shootoff.

Flora's Logan Smith made eight but did not advance.
