DECATUR -- Flora High School had the opportunity to head to the Class 2A State Girls Basketball Tournament for the first time in school history but fell just a little short Monday evening.

The Wolves lost to Bloomington Central Catholic 65-51 in the 2A Decatur Super-Sectional. The Wolves were in the contest until Crimson Jones picked up her fourth foul, sending her to the bench in the third quarter. The playmaker had been picking Central Catholic's press apart up to that point and connecting with teammate Kylie Cox.

Cox was taking advantage of Jones' passes and scored six of her eight points in the opening quarter. Cox, who averaged 9.2 points a contest for the Wolves, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes right before the Wolves regional title game and missed that contest due to treatments.

But Cox, who is related to our own Wayne Moran who is a cousin to her mother, came back to play in both sectional victories and the super-sectional.

Bloomiington Central Catholic advances to the Class 2A State Tournament in Normal Friday and will take on Kankakee McNamara at 6:30 p.m. followed by Elmhurst IC Catholic against Breese Central at 8. The third place game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Saturday and the championship at 8:15 p.m.
