St. Anthony Edges Altamont in Close Game; Other Tuesday Boys Scores

The St. Anthony Bulldogs posted a 21-point fourth quarter to come from behind and defeat the Altamont Indians, 51-47, Tuesday night in Altamont.

Altamont led most of the game, 11-8 after one quarter, 24-20 at halftime and 32-30 after three quarters before the Bulldogs outscored the Indians 21-15 in the final stanza to post the four-point win.

Nick Grunloh scored nine of his 11 points to key the Bulldogs' fourth quarter comeback. Several Bulldogs also finished strong at the foul line in the final period, with Grunloh going six-for-six and Connor Greene five-for-six, helping St. Anthony score 14 of their 21 points from the line in the quarter.

Andrew Gardewine led St. Anthony in scoring with 13 points. Besides Grunloh's 11 points, Jeff Niebrugge scored nine points, Greene and Zach Gardewine five each, James Kabbes four, Braden Puckett three, and Derek Rios one point.

Ryan Armstrong led Altamont with 14 points, Klaiton Wolff 11, Adam Mayhaus seven, Justin Goeckner, Brandon Runge and Evan Cornett with four apiece, and Brandon Hosick three.

St. Anthony improved to 17-10 on the season, while Altamont dropped to 19-7.

St. Anthony won the JV game 58-45. For the St. Anthony JV: Beesley 18, Walsh and Deters seven apiece, Hartke and Schmidt six each, Martelli, Nuxoll and Levitt four apiece, and Lawrence two points. For Altamont: Hosick nine, Shepard eight, Deadmond six, Williams and Runge five each, Stevenson and Brown three apiece, and Wolff, Stone and Childerson two each.

In other boys action Tuesday:

BEECHER CITY 65, WINDSOR 51

Jackson Bales scored 23 points and had six steals to pace Beecher City. Also for the Eagles: Austin Rexroad with nine points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals; Brady Randall with nine points and four rebounds; Austin Stefanski with eight points and nine rebounds; Daniel Harder with eight points and five rebounds; Austin Shelton five points, and Cody Grove, Trey Buzzard and Zane Brandt with one point each. For Windsor: Tristan Warner led with 17 points. Also for Windsor: Haddock 11, Hutchinson and Bennett eight each, Harris five and Armes two points. Beecher City won the JV game 41-22.

SHELBYVILLE 54, ST. ELMO-BROWNSTOWN 39
