EHS Moves Into Title Contest at Hillsboro Frosh Tourney

HILLSBORO -- Effingham High School's freshman basketball squad advanced to the championship game of the Hillsboro Freshman Boys Tournament with a victory Wednesday evening.

The Hearts defeated Auburn 79-67. EHS led 21-12 after one quarter and 43-33 at halftime. Ryian Sandifer tallied 29 points while Lucas Vasquez scored 21 and Mason Hull 14 for the winners.

The Hearts will now take on host Hillsboro at 8 p.m. today. Auburn fell into the third place contest against Greenville at 6:45 p.m. Pana won over Vandalia and will play Taylorville for the consolation championship at 5:30 p.m.
