Taylorville Hands EHS Girls Loss

Taylorville High School came calling and had a big scoring third quarter to defeat Effingham 55-40 in girls basketball action Tuesday evening.
The Hearts stayed even with Taylorville in the opening quarter 14-14 as Shelby Myers knocked in three baskets. Taylorville edged ahead to lead 28-25 at halftime. Effingham's Aly Armstrong nailed two trifectas in the second quarter.
But the third period was the Hearts' undoing as Taylorville had a 14-1 run to lead 42-26 going into the final quarter.
Jantzen Michael tallied 16 points to lead EHS. She scored 10 points in the final period. Myers finished with eight.
