ST. ELMO -- Effingham St. Anthony is headed to sectional competition after winning the Class 8-2A St. Elmo/Brownstown Regional boys championship Thursday evening.

The Bullpups defeated host St. Elmo/Brownstown 49-31. St. Anthony held a 35-18 halftime lead and had a 14-7 third period run.

Strullmeyer talied 16 points to lead the winners. Philpot led St. Elmo/Brownstown with 16.

St. Anthony advances to the St. Elmo/Brownstown Sectional Wednesday and will take on Nokomis at 6:30 p.m.

Class 8-3A Shelbyville Moulton

Teutopolis edged ahead 4-2 after one period but trailed Shelbyville Moulton 17-15 at halftime. T-town then had a 14-3 third quarter run and never looked back.

Dawson Smith scored 11 for the winners who improve to 15-9 on the season.

T-town will now face Red Hill (Bridgeport) at the Marshall Sectional Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

Class 8-1A Palestine Regional

Sigel St. Michael captured the championship of the Palestine Regional Thursday evening.

St. Michael defeated Hutsonville 35-27. St. Michael now advances to the Palestine Sectional Wednesday against Mulberry Grove at 6:30 p.m.

 

Class 8-1A Mulberry Grove Regional

Mulberry Grove won its own regional by downing Pana Sacred Heart, 42-27.

Mulberry Grove advances to the Palestine Sectional against Sigel St. Michael at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

 

Class 8-2A Raymond Lincolnwood Regional

Nokomis won the championshp of this regional. Nokomis downed Cowden-Herrick 48-29.

Nokomis advances to face Effingham St. Anthony at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Raymond Lincolnwood Regional.

 

Class 8-3A Robinson Nuttall Regional

Red Hill (Bridgeport) captured the championshipof this regional by downing host Robinson Nuttall 50-35.

Red Hill meets Teutopolis at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Marshall Sectional.

 

Class 8-4A Rantoul Eater Regional

Champaign Franklin edged Champaign Edison in the Rantoul Eater Regional Thursday evening.

Champaign Franklin advances to face Effingham in the Mahomet-Seymour Sectional Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. for the right to advance to the state tournament.
