Bulldogs Drop Girls Contest To Paris

Effingham St. Anthony High School played host to Paris in non-conference girls basketball action Saturday and fell to the Tigers 50-47 in overtime.
The Bulldogs fell behind 14-7 in the opening quarter and trailed 23-15 at halftime. The Bulldogs rallied in the third quarter with a 16-4 run to pull ahead 31-27. Megan Nuxoll hit a basket and knocked down six free throws in the quarter for eight points.
But Paris came back with a 16-12 score led by L. Lawson with 12 points on three trifectas and the Tigers tied the score, sending the game into overtime.
In the overtime period, Paris had a 7-4 run for the victory.
"It was a great effort by the girls," said St. Anthony Coach Bart Wiedman. "We were real balanced offensively."
Nuxoll finished with 15 points while Emily McDevitt added 12. Emma Richards pulled down 14 rebounds while Morgan Gardewine had three assists.
