EHS Drops Apollo Loss, Area Girls Roundup

MOUNT ZION -- The Braves of Mount Zion evened their Apollo Conference record to 4-4 with a 51-38 victory over Effingham Thursday evening.

Mount Zion held a 21-17 halftime lead then had a 16-6 third quarter run. Propst tallied 18 points while M. Davis added 12 for the winners.

Effingham was led by Jantzen Michael with 16 points. The Hearts drop to 0-8 in the conference, 13-12 overall.

At Dieterich

With a big 14-4 opening quarter lead, Dieterich went on for a 58-28 victory over South Central in non-conference action Thursday.

The Maroons had two players hit double digits while a total of nine players scored in the contest. Courtney Flach tallied 18 on six field goals, including four three-pointers, and two of two at the line. She also had five assists and four rebounds. Kelsey Webb chipped in with 10 points and five assists.

Leading the Maroons in rebounding was Mallorie Vahling with 13. She also led in steals with four. Dieterich improves to 19-7 overall. A big game looming on the horizon for the Maroons is next Thursday at Neoga in conference action.

South Central was led by Sidney Wilkins with 12 points.

Richards led the Eagles with 12 points while Hartrich chipped in with 10. Newton drops to 15-11 on the season.
