(Philadelphia, PA) -- Michael Carter-Williams just missed a triple-double with 14 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds as the 76ers pounded the Pistons 89-69 at Wells Fargo Center. Robert Covington netted 19 points and JaKarr Sampson had 13 points and eight boards for the Sixers, who put an end to their six-game losing streak. Luc Richard Mbah a Moute added 12 points and six rebounds in the victory. Greg Monroe posted 20 points and 10 boards but the rest of the Pistons starting lineup combined to shoot just 5-of-25 from the field. Jodie Meeks scored 19 points off the bench for Detroit, which has dropped four in-a-row.


Kyrie Goes Off In Cavaliers Win Against Blazers

(Cleveland, OH) -- Kyrie Irving exploded for a career-high 55 points to carry the Cavaliers to a 99-94 victory over the Trail Blazers at Quicken Loans Arena. Irving set a franchise-record with 11 from deep, including the go-ahead triple with six seconds left in the fourth quarter. Timofey Mozgov helped out with a 12-point, 10-rebound, double-double as Cleveland earned its eight straight win. LeBron James did not play for the Cavs. LaMarcus Aldridge did his best to match Irving in the loss going off for 38 points and 11 rebounds, but it wasn't enough. Damian Lillard shot 4-of-19 and posted 14 points for the Blazers, who are 2-6 in their last eight.


Raptors Rout Kings

(Toronto, Ontario) -- Louis Williams led seven players in double figures with 27 points as the Raptors crushed the Kings 119-102 at Air Canada Centre.  Greivis Vasquez scored 18 points, while Jonas Valanciunas had 15 points and nine rebounds for the Raptors, who have won four in-a-row. Kyle Lowry added 13 points and seven assists in the victory. Rudy Gay netted 22 points in Sacramento's seventh straight loss. Ben McLemore chipped in with 17 points and DeMarcus Cousins donated 13 in defeat.

Timberwolves Top Celtics

(Minneapolis, MN) -- Kevin Martin scored a game-high 21 points in his return to action as the Timberwolves topped the Celtics 110-98 at the Target Center.  Martin missed 34 games with a fractured right wrist. Gorgui Dieng posted 16 points and 14 rebounds as all five starters scored in double figures. Zach LaVine netted 17 points, while Thaddeus Young had 12 points and nine boards for the Wolves, who snapped a five-game skid. Jared Sullinger scored 16 points and Marcus Thornton tallied 15 off the bench for Boston, which went 3-3 on its six-game road trip. Avery Bradley added 13 points in the setback.


Rockets Dump Mavericks

(Houston, TX) -- Josh Smith paced the Rockets off the bench with 18 points and six rebounds in their 99-94 win over the Mavericks at the Toyota Center.  Houston has taken the first two of four from Dallas this season. James Harden chipped in 17 points, eight assists, five boards and four steals as the Rockets have won three in-a-row. Monta Ellis did all he could for the Mavs going off for 33 points, five assists and four boards, but he didn't get much help from his backcourt partner. Rajon Rondo had zero points on 0-of-7 shooting, missed both his free throws and had six helpers to five turnovers. Dallas has lost four straight.


Nuggets Slip Past Pelicans

(New Orleans, LA) -- Arron Afflalo dropped in 20 points as the Nuggets slipped past the Pelicans 93-85 at the Smoothie King Center. Jusuf Nurkic posted 15 points and nine rebounds, while Kenneth Faried added 14 points and seven boards for Denver, which put an end to its seven-game losing streak. Danilo Gallinari added 11 points off the pine in the victory. Tyreke Evans scored a game-high 25 points and Anthony Davis racked up 24 points and 12 boards for the Pelicans, who had won their previous four. Eric Gordon had 11 points, six rebounds and six assists but shot just 4-of-15 from the field.


Knicks Sink Thunder

(New York, NY) -- Carmelo Anthony put up 31 points and 10 rebounds leading the Knicks to a 100-92 win against the Thunder at Madison Square Garden. Langston Galloway continued his strong play tallying 18 with four assists and four rebounds, while Lance Thomas came off the bench to score 17 versus his former team.  New York has won four of five.  Oklahoma City was without Kevin Durant, who missed his second straight game with a toe injury. Russell Westbrook tried to pick up the Thunder, going off for 40 points on 30 shots. Serge Ibaka added 10 and 10 rebounds for OKC, which has lost three of four.


Hawks Run Streak To 17 With Win Over Nets

(Atlanta, GA) -- All five Hawks starters finished in double digits as Atlanta ran its winning streak to 17 games with a 113-102 victory over the Nets at Philips Arena. Paul Millsap led the way with 28 points and 15 rebounds while Al Horford picked up 20 points and 10 boards. Jeff Teague recorded a 13 point, 11 assist double-double with Kyle Korver adding 17 points. The Hawks improved to 38-8. Joe Johnson led the Nets with 26 points and Jarrett Jack chipped in 14 points and 13 dimes. Brook Lopez poured in 18 points off the bench as Brooklyn dropped its third straight.


Spurs Drop Hornets

(San Antonio, TX) -- The San Antonio Spurs are rolling after a 95-86 victory over the Charlotte Hornets at the AT&T Center. The defending NBA champs have won seven of their past eight games. Tony Parker paced the Spurs with 17 points while Danny Green shot 4-for-8 from beyond the arc and contributed 16 points. Tim Duncan notched a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds. The Hornets were without star guard Kemba Walker, who underwent knee surgery Wednesday and is out for at least six weeks. Al Jefferson posted 17 points and 16 rebounds for Charlotte, which has lost two of three.


Clippers Rally To Beat Jazz

(Salt Lake City, UT) -- The Clippers outscored the Jazz 26-17 in the fourth quarter to help them grab a 94-89 win at EnergySolutions Arena. Chris Paul and Jamal Crawford both scored 21 points while Paul also dished out six assists. Blake Griffin tallied 17 points and seven boards and Matt Barnes chipped in 14 points for LA, which has won six in-a-row and nine of 11. Enes Kanter paced Utah with 21 points and 11 rebounds in the loss. Derrick Favors added 18 points and nine boards as the Jazz lost for the fourth time in six games.


Suns Hold Off Wizards

(Phoenix, AZ) -- Goran Dragic dropped in a game-high 20 points as the Suns held on to beat the Wizards 106-98 at US Airways Center. Isaiah Thomas tallied 18 points off the bench, while Markieff Morris posted 16 points and seven rebounds for the Suns, who snapped a brief two-game skid and improved to 5-and-2 on their eight-game homestand. Brandan Wright added 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field in the win. Kris Humphries had 11 points and 15 boards to lead Washington, which finished 2-2 on its four-game west coast road trip. Marcin Gortat and Otto Porter Jr. both scored 14 points in the setback.


Bulls Continue Road Trip Tonight In LA

(Los Angeles, CA) -- The Bulls continue their six-game road trip tonight in Los Angeles against the Lakers. Chicago opened the trek with a 113-111 overtime win over the Warriors on Tuesday in Oakland. The Bulls are now 30-17 on the season. The Lakers, who are without Kobe Bryant for the rest of the season, have lost nine straight to dip to 12-34.

The NBA Rising Stars Challenge rosters are out. In a new format, 20 players will take part in the game as members of either the U.S. Team or World Team.  Chicago's Nikola Mirotic will compete on the World squad. The game will be played at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on February 13, two days before the All-Star Game.


Carter-WIlliams, Wiggins Highlight Rising Stars Challenge Selections

Reigning NBA Rookie the Year Michael Carter-Williams and Andrew Wiggins, the current favorite to win the award this season, highlight the selections for the 2015 Rising Stars Challenge. In a new format, 20 players will take part in the game as members of either the U.S. Team or World Team. The contest will be played on Feb. 13 at Brooklyn's Barclays Center, two days before the NBA All-Star Game. Carter-Williams, the face of the rebuilding Philadelphia 76ers, is averaging 15.3 points, 7.1 assists and 6.0 rebounds per game. Wiggins, picked first overall in the 2014 draft, has improved his game after a slow start. In 14 January games, the Minnesota Timberwolves forward is averaging 19.7 points on 46.6 percent shooting.
