Newton Falls in LIC Boys Tourney

ROBINSON -- Newton High School saw its stay in the Little Illini Conference Boys Basketball Tournament come to a close with a 57-39 loss to Robinson Monday evening.

The Maroons held a 16-14 first quarter lead then held Newton scoreless in the second period for a 26-14 halftime lead. Robinson then had a 23-11 third period run.

Newton was led by Tim Weber with 11 and Collin Harris with 10.

In the second game, Red Hill (Bridgeport) won over Edwards County (Albion) 53-43.

Tonight's games feature Lawrenceville taking on Flora at 6 p.m. and Casey-Westfield against Marshall at 7:30 in winner bracket action. In consolation play Wednesday, Robinson meets Olney at 6 and Red Hill takes on Paris at 7:30. The finals are scheduled for Friday.
