The Centralia Orphans dealt the Effingham Hearts their biggest loss of the season Friday night, 59-26, in the semifinal round of the Salem Invitational Tournament. The game was heard on 979XFM and www.979xfm.com.

The Hearts held Centralia in check during the early minutes, but couldn't get any shots to drop. Eventually, the Orphans began connecting and led the game 14-4 after one quarter. The Orphans pushed their advantage to 27-10 at halftime.

After halftime, the Hearts tried to make it a game, getting back to within 11 and a foul shot coming. However, Centralia scored six quick points and had the lead back to 16 at 38-22 after three quarters.

Centralia then ripped off the first 16 points of the fourth quarter and eventually outscored the Hearts 21-4 in the quarter to account for the final score.
