BSE, St. A, Dieterich Pick Up NTC Girls Basketball Tourney Wins

Three games were on tap Monday evening as the National Trail Conference Girls Basketball Tournament got underway at Beecher City High School.

In the opener, Brownstown/St. Elmo defeated Altamont 46-33. BSE had three players hit double digits while holding Altamont's players under the double figure mark.

Krystyn Fitch led BSE with 14 points while Morgan Brown added 13 and Dana Shelton 10. The Bombers stepped out to a 30-14 first half lead. Altamont was led by Carly McHugh with nine points.

No. 2 St. Anthony claimed a 47-22 win over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City. The Bulldogs stepped out to a 27-15 halftime lead and had a 14-5 third quarter run.

Megan Nuxoll led the Bulldog attack with 14 points while Morgan Gardewine added 10. CHBC was led by Jensyn Morrison with eight points.

The final contest of the evening went to Dieterich over South Central 47-22. Mallorie Vahling connected on eight field goals and was four of seven at the line for 20 points. Courtney Flach added 13 points.

South Central was led by Abby Hahn with seven points.

The tournament continues Thursday as CHBC meets South Central at 5:30 p.m. in consolation bracket play. Top-seeded Neoga faces BSE at 7 p.m. in winner bracket action followed by St. Anthony taking on Dieterich at 8:30.
