Cavaliers Smack Bulls, NBA Roundup

(Cleveland, OH) -- The Cavaliers are starting to come around as they smoked the Bulls, 108-94, at Quicken Loans Arena. Cleveland won its third straight game as LeBron James posted 26 points with five rebounds and four assists. Timofey Mozgov and Kevin Love each had double-doubles, while J.R. Smith hit six threes on his way to 20 points.  Chicago couldn't get going offensively, shooting 37-percent from the field. Jimmy Butler had a team-high 20 points. Derrick Rose and Pau Gasol combined for 29 points, but shot 9-of-28. The Bulls have lost four-of-five.  


Hornets Humble Timberwolves

(Charlotte, NC) -- Gerald Henderson led a balanced attack with 17 points as the Hornets humbled the Timberwolves 105-80 at Time Warner Cable Arena. Brian Roberts added 16 points for Charlotte, which outscored Minnesota 60-to-32 over the middle two quarters to take control. The Hornets have won two straight and seven of their last eight games to improve to 17-25. Thaddeus Young knocked down a game-high 18 points for Minnesota, which went 2-2 on its four-game road trip. Andrew Wiggins added 12 points for the Timberwolves, who are 7-33 overall and 4-17 on the road.


Wizards Wax Sixers

(Washington, DC) -- Just miles from where Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his famous "I Have a Dream" speech, the Wizards routed the 76ers 111-76 at the Verizon Center on MLK Day. Marcin Gortat led seven players in double-figures with 20 points for Washington, which outscored Philadelphia in all four quarters. John Wall added a double-double with 11 points and 10 assists for Washington, which has won seven of its last nine games to improve to 29-13. Henry Sims led the Sixers' attack with 13 points. Jerami Grant added 12 off the bench for Philadelphia, which fell to 8-33.


Hawks Get Past Pistons

(Atlanta, GA) -- Paul Millsap and Mike Scott poured in 20 points each to lead the Hawks to a 93-82 win over the Pistons at Philips Arena. Al Horford added 14 points, six rebounds and seven assists for Atlanta, which stretched its winning streak to 13 games. The Hawks have won 18 of their last 19 and have the best record in the Eastern Conference at 34-8. Greg Monroe scored 16 points and pulled down 20 rebounds in defeat for Detroit. Andre Drummond added 13 points and 18 boards for the Pistons, who outworked the Hawks 61-to-42 on the glass but still lost. It was just the third loss in 14 games for Detroit.


Clippers Pick Off Celtics

(Los Angeles, CA) -- Blake Griffin bagged 22 points, nine rebounds and six assists as the Clippers knocked off the Celtics 102-93 at STAPLES Center. DeAndre Jordan tallied 19 points, 12 boards and six blocks for Los Angeles, which has won two straight and five of its last seven games. J.J. Redick and Jamal Crawford had 16 points each for the Clippers, who are 24-18. Brandon Bass had 17 points to lead the Celtics, who shot just 39-percent as a team. Marcus Thornton had 15 points and Jared Sullinger pitched in with 14 points and eight rebounds for Boston, which has lost three straight to drop to 13-26.


Warriors Stomp Nuggets

(Oakland, CA) -- The Warriors jumped on the Nuggets and never let up on their way to a 122-79 victory at ORACLE Arena behind 20 points and eight assists from Steph Curry. Golden State held Denver to 28 points in the first half. Klay Thompson paced the Warriors with 22 points and four threes as they won for the 10th time in 11 tries. Ty Lawson posted 19 points and six assists in the loss. The only other Nuggets player in double figures was Jameer Nelson with 14 off the bench. Denver has lost three straight.    


Mavericks Hold Off Grizzlies

(Memphis, TN) -- The Mavericks led by nine at the end of the first quarter and battled for a 103-95 win against the Grizzlies at the FedExForum. Monta Ellis led the way with 25 points and seven assists, while Dirk Nowitzki added 21 and six rebounds. Tyson Chandler had a 10-point, 16-rebound, double-double for Dallas, which has won three of four.  Mike Conley returned from a two-game absence with an ankle injury to score 22 points on 7-of-16 shooting. Marc Gasol tallied 20 points with eight rebounds and four assists in the defeat. The Grizz had a four-game winning streak snapped.


Rockets Pound Pacers

(Houston, TX) -- James Harden exploded for 45 points and seven assists to lead the Rockets to an easy 110-98 victory over the Pacers at the Toyota. Center.  Harden knocked 12-of-18 shots, including seven threes. Dwight Howard added 14 points and 17 rebounds as Houston bounced back from a rough loss to the Warriors at home over the weekend. They get another shot at Golden State at ORACLE Arena on Wednesday. C.J. Miles paced Indiana with 23 points off the bench. Donald Sloan chipped in 17 with six assists for the Pacers, who have lost five straight.


Knicks End Losing Streak Versus Pelicans

(New York, NY) -- The Knicks ended a franchise-record 16-game losing streak with a 99-92 win over the Pelicans at Madison Square Garden. Carmelo Anthony had a game-high 24 points with nine rebounds. Langston Galloway, who is on his second 10-day contract, posted 21 on 8-of-14 shooting with five boards. New Orleans was without Anthony Davis and Jrue Holiday. Tyreke Evans put up 23 points with nine rebounds in defeat. Ryan Anderson shot 4-of-17 from the field, including 3-of-13 from behind the arc. Eric Gordon added 20 for the Pelicans, who have alternated wins and losses in their last six.


Blazers Sneak Past Kings

(Portland, OR) -- The Trail Blazers weren't sharp, but were able to grab a 98-94 win over the Kings at the Moda Center behind 22 points from Damian Lillard. Lillard shot 6-of-19 from the field and missed key free throws late in the fourth quarter that kept Sacramento alive. LaMarcus Aldridge posted 10 points in 14 minutes before having to leave with a left thumb injury. Portland ended a three-game losing streak. DeMarcus Cousins fouled out in the fourth quarter and finished with 22 points and 19 rebounds  Rudy Gay paced the Kings with 26 points on 10-of-19 shooting as they have lost four in-a-row.


Suns Push Past Lakers

(Phoenix, AZ) -- Goran Dragic and Isaiah Thomas each scored 24 points to guide the Suns to a 115-100 victory over the Lakers at US Airways Center. Dragic also grabbed nine rebounds while Eric Bledsoe tallied 17 points and seven assists. Markieff Morris chipped in 15 points to help Phoenix win its third straight game. Nick Young paced LA with 24 points off the bench while Kobe Bryant sat out. Jeremy Lin logged a 10-point, 10-assist double-double for the Lakers, who have dropped five in-a-row and seven of eight.
