T-town, CHBC Drops Girls Contests

NOKOMIS -- Teutopolis High School took the early lead but Nokomis came back with big second and third quarter runs and held on for a 49-39 girls basketball victory Tuesday evening.

The Wooden Shoes took a 10-6 lead behind McMahon's five points in the opening quarter. Nokomis came back with a 12-4 second period run to lead 18-14 at halftime. Nokomis continued its run with a 12-7 third period surge to lead 30-21 going into the final quarter. T-town played Nokomis even in the final period.

Hardiek tallied 11 points and had five rebounds for the Shoes, scoring seven points in the final period. Bueker pulled down five rebounds.

Nokomis was led by Schneider with 30 points, connecting on 12 field goals and five free throws.

Cerro Gordo/Bement handed Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City a 47-39 non-conference loss Tuesday evening.

Cerro Gordo/Bement took a 13-8 opening quarter lead and led 24-21 at halftime. Cerro Gordo/Bement then extended its lead with a 15-9 third period run. Cerro Gordo/Bement improves to 11-7 on the season.

Jensyn Morrison scored 16 for CHBC while Felicia Johnson added 13.
