TAYLORVILLE -- Effingham Junior High School fell to Taylorville in both seventh and eighth grade boys basketball competition Monday evening.
Taylorville won the seventh-grade contest 53-31. The Mustangs were led in scoring by Kyle Nohren with 12 points and four steals. Kyle Pemberton had five rebounds and Sam Thompson four.
In the eighth-grade contest, Taylorville connected on nine three-pointers and edged the Mustangs 50-49. Effingham had a shot with two seconds to go that rimmed out.
Wolfe scored 19 and had 10 rebounds for Effingham. Jackson had 13 points and eight boards. Rich had eight boards. The Mustangs drops to 12-2 on the season while Taylorville is 13-1.

At Effingham
St. Anthony bounced Dieterich in both seventh and eighth grade action Monday.
The Bullpups won the seventh-grade game 43-10. Tingley scored 12 and Dust 10 for the winners. Hartke led Dieterich with four.
In eighth-grade competition, St. Anthony was a 64-18 winner. Strullmeyer scored 20 for the Bullpups. Dieterich was led by Brummer with seven.

Teutopolis claimed victories over Charleston. The Wooden Booties won the seventh-grade A game 39-30. T-town held a 21-15 halftime lead. Luke Ungrund scored 16 points.
In seventh-grade B play, T-town was a 23-21 winner. Kendall Tabbert led T-town with eight points.

Altamont picked up two wins over Beecher City. Altamont was a 50-16 winner in seventh-grade play.
Altamont led 26-6 at halftime. Kollmann scored 14 and Delaney 10 for the winners. Beecher City was led by Blaise Lowry, Preston Morales and Joshua Kollman with four each.
In eighth-grade competition, Altamont claimed a 46-30 victory. Biggs tallied 15 points, connecting on four three-pointers. He scored 11 points in the second quarter 16-8 run.

St. Elmo/Brownstown and Neoga picked up a win each in seventh and eighth grade play.
Neoga was a 38-30 winner in seventh-grade action. St. Elmo/Brownstown held a 14-11 first half lead before Neoga came back with a 27-16 second half run. Neoga was led by Johnson with 15 points. SEB was led by McWhorter with 10.
In the eighth-grade contest, St. Elmo/Brownstown was a 49-29 winner. SEB edged out to a 21-19 halftime lead then had a 28-10 second half run.
Philpot led the way with 23 points for the winners while Aderman added 13. Neoga was led by L. Peters and Fletcher with eight each.

Robinson took a 17-12 first half lead then held Jasper County scoreless in the third period to push the lead to 27-12.
