EIU Guard LeTrell Viser Named Co-OVC Newcomer Of Week

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Eastern Illinois junior guard LeTrell Viser was named the co-Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week after helping the Panthers improve to 4-0 in the OVC with wins over Tennessee State and Belmont.  The Panthers return to action this Thursday with a 6:30 p.m. game at Eastern Kentucky.
 
Viser averaged 10.5 points for the two games as EIU improved to 4-0 in conference play for the first time since the 1985-86 season when they were members of the Mid-Continent Conference.  EIU has now won seven straight games to stand at 10-6 on the year.  Viser was 6-of-15 from 3-point range for the week adding 3.5 rebounds per game, two blocks and five steals.  Viser has now had at least two steals in nine straight games.
 
For the season Viser is averaging 7.1 points per game.  He has made a team high 29 3-pointers and leads the Panthers with 22 steals.
