(Champaign, IL) -- Malcolm Hill scored 28 points to pace Illinois to a 64-57 win over number-nine Maryland at the State Farm Center. Both teams shot about 36-percent from the field, and Maryland led by two at the half.

The Fighting Illini improved to 11-5 and 1-2 in the Big Ten. Melo Trimble led the Terps with 17 points. The Terrapins dipped to 14-2 and 2-1 in the conference.


No. 13 Kansas Escapes No. 22 Baylor

(Waco, TX) -- Jamari Traylor scored 13 points and grabbed five rebounds to carry number-13 Kansas to a 56-55 win over 22nd-ranked Baylor in Waco. Brannen Greene added 12 points for the Jayhawks, who moved to 12-2 and 1-0 in the Big 12. Kenny Chery scored a game-best 25 points for the Bears, who slipped to 11-3 and 0-2 in the conference. No other Baylor player was in double figures.


No. 9 Utah Downs Colorado

Salt Lake City, UT (SportsNetwork.com) -- Delon Wright had 13 points, six assists and four steals to lead No. 9 Utah in a 74-49 victory over Colorado on Wednesday. Brandon Taylor tallied 14 points and five assists, while Dakarai Tucker added 11 points for the Utes (13-2, 3-0 Pac-12), who have won six straight games.


No. 2 Duke Pulls Away From Wake Forest

inston-Salem, NC (SportsNetwork.com) -- Freshman Justise Winslow scored a season-high 20 points and No. 2 Duke pulled away down the stretch for a 73-65 win over Wake Forest on Wednesday night. After trailing for a total of 6 minutes and 13 seconds in its first 13 games, Duke found itself behind by two points with under five minutes remaining. But Quinn Cook's three-point play sparked a 9-2 burst that gave the Duke the lead for good. It was part of an overall run of 16-4 by the Blue Devils (14-0, 2-0 ACC).

 

SIUE Winning Streak Comes To Halt

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – SIUE men's basketball saw its five-game winning streak come to an end Wednesday night, falling 73-69 at Belmont in a tight Ohio Valley Conference matchup. SIUE dropped to 6-8 overall and 2-1 in the OVC with the loss. Belmont improved to 10-5 overall and 2-0 in the OVC. Nunn led SIUE with 15 points, 10 of which came in the second half. Jackson turned his first career double-double with 10 points and a career-best 11 rebounds. Newton tied career highs with 11 points and three three-pointers. C.J. Carr scored seven points off the bench while adding three assists.

 

Tennessee State Downs EIU Women

In women's basketball, Tennessee State sank a three-pointer just before halftime to take a one point lead over Eastern Illinois University. The Tigers opened the second half with a 9-2 run and never looked back during a 57-44 win over the Panthers in Gentry Center Wednesday evening.

EIU dropped to 5-11 overall, 2-1 in the Ohio Valley Conference. The Panthers will host Belmont at 1 p.m. Saturday in Lantz Arena.
