Here's a recap of area high school boys basketball scores from Friday night:

St. Anthony 52, St. Elmo/Brownstown 47 (game heard on 979XFM and www.979xfm.com.  Homecoming King John Sandschafer, Homecoming Queen Megan Nuxoll)

Effingham 45, Mattoon 44 (OT) (The game was tied 7-7 after one quarter, the Hearts led 18-16 at halftime, Effingham was ahead 29-27 after three quarters, but it was tied at 43-43 at the end of regulation. Grant Wolfe's two foul shots in the extra period gave Effingham the win. Wolfe led Effingham with 13 points, while Michael Carie and Jacob Donaldson each scored 11 points. Also for Effingham: Braydon Bone, Reed Schafer and Jared Minor with three points apiece, and Sean Zerrusen with one point. Davis Johnson with 11 points and Braden Smith with 10 points led Mattoon. Effingham improved to 5-1 on the season. Effingham won the JV game, 48-40. Jacob Donaldson had 18 points and Brent Beals scored 12 to lead the JV Hearts. Also for Effingham: Drew Vasquez 6, Trevor Kreke 5, Brady Jackson 4, Mason Hull 2, Wyatt Keith 1)

Teutopolis 57, St. Joe Ogden 41 (The Shoes led 19-11 after one quarter, 26-18 at halftime, and 39-32 after three quarters before outscoring SJO 18-9 in the final stanza. Devin Smith with 14 points led the Shoes, while Brett Mette added 12 points and Tyler Gebben 10. Also for T-Town: Brock Mette 7, Jordan Thoele 6, Michael Drees 4, Mitch Hardiek 3, and Kyle Smith 1. Teutopolis remains undefeated)

Altamont 67, South Central 61 (Altamont had a big first half, leading 17-10 after one quarter and 37-26 at halftime. South Central outscored the Indians 35-30 in the second half, but Altamont prevailed by six. Ryan Armstrong led Altamont with 26 points. Also for Altamont: Hosick 10, Mayhaus 8, Goeckner, Klaiton Wolff and Deadmond 6 each, E. Wolff 5. For South Central: Langley and Hill 13 each, Harmeier and Riley 10 each, Ratermann 8, Peters 5, and Wilkins 2. South Central is 2-3, Altamont is 3-0. These two will play again next Wednesday at the St. Elmo Tournament)

Dieterich 54, Beecher City 41 (Dieterich led the game 16-11 after one quarter, 24-20 at halftime, and 36-32 after three quarters before Dieterich outscored Beecher City 18-9 in the final quarter. Alex Bohnhoff with 17 points and Devin Aherin with 14 points led Dieterich. Also for the Movin Maroons: Lance Niemerg 7, Travis Niemerg 4 and Clayton Campton 2. For Beecher City: Austin Rexroad 19, Daniel Harder 7 with 14 rebounds, Westen Giles 7, Brady Randall 4, Jackson Bales 2, and Austin Shelton 2 with 5 rebounds. Beecher City is 1-3 on the season. Dieterich won the JV game 44-40)
