Freshman/Sophomore Boys Results -- Dec. 11

Effingham High School's freshmen/sophomore basketball teams picked up wins over Shelbyville Thursday evening.

The Hearts claimed the first contest 70-47. The Hearts had a 23-5 second quarter run and never looked back. Three players scored in double digits. Trevor Kreke led the way with 25 points, 10 coming in the third quarter and 10 in the final period. Ryan Sandifer added 18 and Mason Hull 17.

In the second game, Effingham picked up a 47-20 victory. The Hearts held a 29-3 halftime lead. Logan Smith was the lone player in double figures for the Hearts with 14. Eight other players scored in the game.

At Sullivan

St. Anthony's freshman/sophomore squads picked up victories over Sullivan Thursday evening.

The Bulldogs won the freshman contest 40-15. The Bulldogs held a 23-6 halftime lead. Austin Kline and Alex Beesley scored 13 points each.

In the sophomore game, St. Anthony won 39-32. The Bulldogs edged ahead 17-15 at halftime. Both teams tallied 11 in the third quarter. The Bulldogs then had an 11-6 final period surge for the win.

Jack Nuxoll led with eight points while Drew Gibson and Jacob Schmidt added seven each.
