BROWNSTOWN -- Altamont and Sigel St. Michael moved into the championship game of the National Trail Conference Seventh-Grade Boys Basketball Tournament with victories Wednesday evening.
In the opening contest, Altamont edged out to an 11-10 lead on Neoga and led by a basket, 22-20 at halftime. Altamont then came out and put the contest away with an 28-11 second half run.
Three players hit double digits for the winners. Kollmann tallied 20 while Reardon scored 12 and Delaney 10. Neoga was led by Johnson with 11.
In the second contest, Sigel St. Michael edged Windsor 30-26. St. Michael took a 12-6 opening quarter lead and led 20-15 at halftime. Windsor pulled back within 22-19 going into the final quarter but St. Michael had an 8-7 fourth quarter edge.
Fearday scored 15 for the winners. Campbell led Windsor with 10.
Altamont will meet St. Michael at 8 p.m. Friday for the championship while Neoga faces Windsor at 6:45 for third place. Tonight's schedule has Dieterich against Effingham Sacred Heart at 6:15 and Stewardson-Strasburg taking on St. Elmo/Brownstown at 7:30 in consolation bracket action. The winners will meet for the consolation championship at 5:30 p.m. Friday.
