Seventh-Grade Girls Basketball Sectional Results -- Dec. 3

Three seventh-grade area teams will be heading to junior high school state girls basketball tournaments in three different classes after the trio won sectional championships Wednesday evening.

Class 3A Cumberland Sectional

Teutopolis downed Jasper County 38-24 to win the Cumberland Sectional.

T-town held a 19-12 halftime lead. Jasper County came back with a 9-5 third period run to pull within 24-21 but T-town went on a 14-3 final period run.

Claire Bushur scored 14 and Olivia Niemerg 10 for the winners. Jasper County was led by Allison Harris with 10.

T-town advances with a perfect 25-0 record to face Green Valley Midwest Central (18-4) at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Auburn High School.

At Cumberland

Class 7-2A Effingham St. Anthony Sectional

Neoga edged Altamont 22-19 for the championship of the St. Anthony Sectional.

Neoga took a 3-1 opening quarter lead and led 10-5 at halftime. Altamont came back with an 8-6 third period lead to pull within 16-13 going into the final period. Neoga then held on for the three point victory.

Partlow scored six for the winners. Guse led Altamont with 10. Neoga improves to 13-8 and will now meet Princeville (20-2) at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the Class 2A State Tournament at Assumption Central A&M Middle School.

Class 7-1A Pana Sacred Heart Sectional

Sigel St. Michael captured the championship of the Pana Sacred Heart Sectional. St. Michael had to go overtime before defeating Mount Olive 31-23.

The Sharpshooters improve to 16-5 on the season and will face Decatur Our Lady of Lourdes (20-1) at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Class 1A State Tournament at Normal Chiddix Junior High School.
