Bulldogs Nab Girls Win, Area Roundup

CENTRALIA -- Effingham St. Anthony claimed a 41-35 girls basketball win over Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran Monday evening.
The Bulldogs took a 10-4 opening quarter lead and led 23-14 at halftime. CORL came back with a 9-8 third period run but the Bulldogs finished out connecting on free throws in the final quarter for the win.
Megan Nuxoll tallied 10 points for the winners. Abby Brown chipped in with eight points, four coming on free throws in the final period.

Teutopolis traveled to Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and picked up a 50-20 victory. Three Wooden Shoe players hit double digits in even scoring.
Hannah Bueker, Chelsey Hardiek and Michell Schmidt tallied 10 points each. CHBC was led by Jensyn Morrison with 14 points.
CHBC drops to 1-7 overall.

Sandoval edged out to a 13-10 opening quarter lead then led 34-22 at halftime. Bethany Kunick tallied 22 for the winners while Haleigh Day added 14 and Katie Bryan 11.
South Central was led by Haley Bergmann with 19.

Newton was led by Hartrich with 13 and Richard with 10. The Eagles are 5-2 on the season.
