Wooden Shoes Win Capital Classic Boys Tournament

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Teutopolis High School claimed the championship of the Capital Classic Boys Basketball Tournament Saturday.

In the first game Saturday, T-town downed Red Hill (Bridgeport) 64-45. The Wooden Shoes led 38-23 at halftime then had a 16-11 final quarter lead.

Three Wooden Shoes players scored in double digits. Brett Mette tallied 13 while Gebben added 12 and Devin Smith 11 for the winners.

In the championship game, Mount Carmel rushed out to a 20-3 opening quarter lead and led 42-22 at halftime. T-town came back with a 22-13 third period run to pull within 55-44 going into the final quarter then had a 32-19 run to pull out the two-point victory and the championship.

Brett Mette tallied 24 while Haridek scored 17 and Devin Smith 11 for the Shoes.

T-town will be back in action Friday against Breese Central celebrating Homecoming.
