Newton 40, Effingham 28 (for Effingham: Jantzen Michael 9, Maddy Field 7, Taylor Crowell 4, Marranda Steffen 4, Brittany Beals 2, Shelby Nunamaker 2; Coach Jeff Schafer said, "This was a tough one, as we just made too many mistakes. The worst part is that we played through it and tied the game up in the third quarter, only to have three chances to take the lead and we came up empty and gave them free points on turnovers and we never recovered. Congratulations to Newton, they played four good games. We just have to go back to work on Monday and keep improving." Effingham finished the tournament 2-2 and the Lady Hearts are 3-2 on the season; Richards led Newton with 17 points and Hartrich added 12; Newton won the tournament going 4-0)
