Angel Rodriguez was unstoppable down the stretch, scoring Miami-Florida's final 11 points in a 69-67 upset of the eighth-ranked Florida Gators. Hurricanes a 68-67 lead. After taking a charge at the other end of the court, he made 1-of-2 free throws with 2.3 seconds remaining. Michael Frazier II missed a jumper at the buzzer.

 

EIU 81, Eureka 51

Twelve Eastern Illinois University men's basketball players found their way into the scoring column Monday night as the Panthers beat Eureka College, 81-51, to improve to 1-1 on the season. EIU has now won three of its last four home openers in Lantz Arena.

Chris Olivier scored in double figures for the second straight game, leading all players iwth 13 as he made 6-of-9 from the floor. Keenen Anderson had 12 points and eight rebounds off the bench.


College Hoops Roundup

In college basketball action Monday night, 23rd-ranked SMU was crushed 72-56 at 11th-ranked Gonzaga.

The University of Michigan men's basketball team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 77-53 win over Bucknell at Crisler Center last night. Zak Irvin led the Wolverines with 23 points, Max Bielfeldt scored 18 and Derrick Walton junior added 15.

Lawrence Alexander scored 21 points but North Dakota State was crushed 87-56 at Iowa. Paul Miller added eight points off the bench for the Bison, who fell to 0-2.

Twelfth-ranked Villanova crushed Maryland-Eastern Shore 81-44.  


United Center To Host Regional Games In 2016

(Chicago, IL) -- The NCAA announced Monday that the United Center will be the site of the Midwest Regional semifinals and finals in 2016. Chicago will be hosting a regional of the NCAA men's basketball tournament for the first time since 2005.
