TEUTOPOLIS -- Teutopolis Junior High School picked up three victories in four boys basketball games Thursday evening.

T-town downed Mattoon 37-19 in seventh-grade B play as Brady McMahon led with 10 points.

In the eighth-grade B contest, T-town was a 30-24 winner. T-town held a 12-9 first half lead then had a 14-3 run in the third period and had to hold off a 10-4 Mattoon final quarter run. Braydan Will scored 10 for the winners.

In A games against Effingham, T-town split the victories. T-town won the seventh-grade contest 38-16. T-town held a 14-8 halftime lead then had a 17-4 final quarter charge. Mitch Hemmen scored 13 to lead the winners. Effingham was led by Thompson, Nohren and Siner with four each.

In eighth-grade play, Effingham jumped out to an 18-5 opening quarter lead and went on for a 49-30 victory. The Mustangs were led by Wolfe with 21. Dawson Smith led T-town with 12.

At Newton

Effingham St. Anthony swept through both games against Newton St. Thomas Thursday evening.

The Bullpups won the seventh-grade game 33-21. St. Anthony had a 10-0 first quarter lead and led 16-10 at halftime. St. Anthony then had a 13-5 fourth quarter run. Dust led the winners with nine points while Elder had eight points.

St. Thomas was led by Ochs with nine.

In the eighth-grade contest, St. Anthony was a 40-11 winner to improve to 2-0. No other information provided.

At Newton

At Beecher City

Effingham Sacred Heart was a 31-12 winner over Beecher City in seventh-grade competition Thursday evening. No other statistics listed.

 

At Altamont

Altamont and Sigel St. Michael split victories Tuesday evening.

Altamont was a 48-40 winner in the seventh-grade contest. St. Michael held a 10-8 opening quarter lead before Altamont edged ahead 18-17 at halftime. Altamont then blew the game away with a 21-5 third quarter surge.

Kollmann tallied 26 and Delaney 11 for the winners. Fearday led St. Michael with 21.

St. Michael claimed a 42-25 win over Altamont in eighth-grade action. St. Michael held a 9-7 first quarter lead then pushed that to 18-13 at halftime. The Sharpshooters had a 24-12 second half run.

Cornell and Hoene provided the one-two scoring punch with 13 each for the winners. Altamont was led by Schmidt with six.
