SHELBYVILLE -- Effingham St. Anthony Junior High School downed Shelbyville in two girls basketball games Tuesday evening.

The Bullpups won the seventh-grade game 19-13 to improve to 9-5 on the season. Jessica Coffin tallied seven and Taylor Beesley six for the winners.

In the eighth-grade contest, St. Anthony was a 47-11 winner. The Bullpups took a 17-0 first quarter lead and led 29-5 at halftime. Meg Richards scored 14 while Katie Kabbes added seven for the winners who improve to 10-2.

At Strasburg

Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor handed Effingham Sacred Heart two losses.

Stew-Stras/Windsor won the seventh-grade game 20-14. Davis tallied eight for the winners who improve to 2-4 in the National Trail Conference, 5-10 overall.

The Shamrocks were led by Hanfland with six points.

In eighth-grade play, Stew-Stras/Windsor was a 38-25 winner. The score was tied at 14-14 at halftime before Stew-Stras/Windsor edged away with a 9-7 third period and put the contest away with a 15-4 final quarter run.

Schlechte tallied 15 and Tabbert 10 for the winners who are 5-1 in the NTC, 10-4 overall.

Sacred Heart was led by N. Carie with 15 points.

At Strasburg

At Pana

Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick split victories with Pana St. Pats. In the seventh-grade game, BCCH was a 35-24 winner to improve to 8-5 overall.

Lauren Wojcik tallied 12 for the winners.

In the eighth-grade contest, Pana St. Pats took a 40-17 victory. Pana St. Pats took a 19-6 halftime lead and had a 15-6 third quarter run. Holland scored 20 and Schoonover 10 for the winners.

BCCH was led by Tabitha Endsley with seven points.

Jasper County scored two victories Tuesday evening over Lawrenceville. Jasper County won the seventh-grade game 38-21. Abby Stone, Josie Grunloh and Renee Russell tallied six points each in even scoring.

In the eighth-grade contest, Jasper County was a 35-26 winner. Mallory Bergbower had 19 points and Allison Russell nine.
