Effingham Junior High School picked up a victory and suffered a loss in girls basketball competition Monday evening.

Olney won the seventh-grade game 36-21. Krouse led Effingham with nine points. The Mustangs drop to 4-6.

In eighth-grade action, Effingham picked up a 45-19 win to improve to 9-1. Fearday tallied 21 and Weis 10.

At Dieterich

Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick defeated Dieterich in both seventh and eighth grade games Monday.

BCCH won the seventh-grade game 31-15. Dieterich took an 11-8 opening quarter lead but did not score in the second period to fall behind 16-11. BCCH then had a 15-4 second half run. Wojcik had 14 and Bertin 11 for the winners. Niemerg led Dieterich with six.

At Robinson

Jasper County claimed a 43-10 victory over Marshall in the Seventh-Grade Conference Tournament Monday evening.

Jasper County held a 27-9 halftime lead. Abby Stone tallied 10 points and Eliza Bierman nine for the winners. The next game will be Wednesday vs. Paris Mayo at 7:20.
