DIETERICH -- Altamont and Neoga moved into the final four in winner bracket action of the National Trail Conference Seventh-Grade Girls Basketball Tournament Thursday.

Altamont started the evening off with a 26-15 win over Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor. Guse led the winners with 10 points while Hardiek and Cox had eight each. Bennett led SS/W with six.

In the second game, Neoga was a 25-21 winner over Dieterich. Neoga led 15-10 at halftime and 18-13 going into the final period. Dieterich made a comeback bid with a 6-1 final period run but fell short.

Rupel led the winners with 11 points. Bierman led Dieterich with 13.

In a consolation bracket contest, Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick downed Effingham Sacred Heart 31-12. The score was tied at 7-7 at halftime before BCCH had a 12-4 third quarter run and a 12-1 final period score.

Wocjik led seven players in scoring with 11 points for the winners. Carie led the Shamrocks with three.

At Louisville

Effingham St. Anthony downed North Clay (Louisville) in both seventh and eighth-grade play Thursday.

The Bullpups won the seventh-grade contest 25-16 to improve to 6-5 on the season. Katie Rogers scored 10 points to lead the winners. Bailey led North Clay with 11.

In eighth-grade competition, St. Anthony was a  37-11 winner. The Bullpups held a 19-5 first half lead. Meg Richards scored 10 and Katie Kabbes nine for the winners. Coble led North Clay with nine.

At Palestine

Jasper County picked up two victories over Palestine in action Thursday evening.

Jasper County was a 36-9 winner in seventh-grade play. Josie Grunloh scored 15 points for the winners.

In eighth-grade action, Jasper County won 42-17. Mallory Bergbower scored 19 and Alison Russell 16.
