Effingham St. Anthony picked up two junior high girls basketball victories Tuesday evening.

The Bullpups won the seventh-grade contest 25-24 over Neoga in overtime to improve to 1-1 on the season. Katie Rogers had nine points and Taylor Beesley eight. Neoga was led by Partlow with 10.

In eighth-grade competition, St. Anthony jumped out to an 11-0 first quarter lead and won 35-10 to improve to 2-0. Meg Richards tallied 14 for the winners. Kingery and Walk had four each for Neoga.

At Mattoon

Effingham and Mattoon split victories Tuesday evening.

Mattoon was a 31-3 winner in seventh-grade play. Mattoon held a 14-2 halftime lead. Bulter and Scott led the winners with six points each.

In eighth-grade play, the Mustangs won 32-11. Weis tallied 16 for the Mustangs who improve to 2-0.

At Beecher City

Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick won the eighth grade contest but Vandalia picked up the seventh-grade win Tuesday.

Vandalia trailed BCCH 10-8 after one quarter and 17-14 at halftime. Vandalia then had a 19-10 second half run for a 33-27 win over BCCH. Hollowell and L. Miller tallied eight points each for the winners. BCCH was led by Lauren Wojcik with 12 as the squad dropped to 0-2.

In eighth-grade play, BCCH was a 29-14 winner. Tabitha Endsley scored 14 for the winners who improve to 2-0.

At Dieterich

Altamont picked up both wins over Dieterich Tuesday evening.

Altamont won 37-32 in seventh-grade play as Mary Guse tallied 15 and Allyson Hardiek added 10. Dieterich was led by Bierman with 14 and Mahnke with 12.

Altamont then claimed a 39-17 eighth-grade victory. Mette tallied 13 and Schultz 10 for the winners. Robards led Dieterich with eight.
