Effingham Sacred Heart fell to Brownstown/St. Elmo in girls junior high basketball action Monday evening.
In the seventh-grade game, BSE was a 25-10 winner. Walk and Wilhour tallied 10 points each for the winners. McDevitt and Feldhake had four each for the Shamrocks.
In the eighth-grade contest, BSE was a 23-20 winner. Wilhour led the way with eight points. Sacred Heart was led by Stock and Carie with six points each.

Sigel St. Michael and Effingham split victories Monday evening. St. Michael was a 30-26 winner in seventh-grade action. The Mustangs held a 17-10 first half lead but St. Michael came back with a 20-9 second half run to pull out the victory.
H. Bueker had 10 points for the winners. M. Krouse led Effingham with 10.
In the eighth-grade contest, the Mustangs won 37-11, taking a 19-4 first half lead. C. Fearday scored 17 for the winners. S. Bueker led St. Michael with six.

At Effingham
Effingham St. Anthony hosted Altamont and split wins in two close contests. Altamont won the seventh-grade game 17-16. Guse tallied 11 points for the winners. Katherine Slaughter led the Bullpups with eight.
In the eighth-grade contest, St. Anthony was the close winner, 26-25. The Bullpups trailed going into the final period then had an 8-3 run to pull out the win.
Katie Kabbes hit double figures with 12 points. Schultz led Altamont with 15 points.
