The Class of 2014 at Teutopolis High School has known nothing other than a trip to the Class 2A Super-Sectional.  This year won't be any exception.

The Teutopolis Wooden Shoes earned their fourth straight trip to the super-sectional with a 64-53 victory over the Greenville Comets to capture the Vandalia 2A Sectional Tournament championship.  The game was heard on KJ Country 102.3 and www.kjcountry.com.

The Wooden Shoes led throughout the contest, up 14-10 after one quarter, ahead 32-24 at halftime and in front 45-29 after three quarters.  Greenville outscored the Shoes 24-19 in the fourth quarter to account for the 11-point victory margin.

Teutopolis made 21 of 43 shots, 49%.  The Shoes made 17 of 25 foul shots, turned the ball over 11 times, grabbed 29 rebounds and made five of 13 three-point shots.

Greenville made 21 of 45 shots, including six of 14 from three-point range, but made five of just seven foul shots.  The Comets committed 11 turnovers, but grabbed just 19 rebounds.

Reed Hardiek scored 19 points to lead Teutopolis.  Bobby Wenthe scored 17 points and Brett Mette was also in double figures with 12 points.  Also for Teutopolis: Brock Mette seven, Cody Will four, Jordan Thoele three and Tyler Gebben two points.

Austin Lawrence scored 24 points to lead Greenville.

Teutopolis improved to 21-9 on the season and will do battle with Nashville Tuesday night at 8pm at SIU Arena in Carbondale.  We'll have the game on 979XFM and www.979xfm.com as part of a double-header.  We'll air the Dieterich 1A Super-Sectional game at 6pm and then the Teutopolis game at 8pm.
