Cubs Ink Ruggiano
(Chicago, IL) -- The Chicago Cubs have avoided arbitration with outfielder Justin Ruggiano. MLB.com says the one-year deal is worth two-million-dollars. He made just under half a million last season. He was acquired from the Marlins for Brian Bogusevic in December. Ruggiano hit .222 with 18 home runs and 50 RBI last year.
Cards, Descalso agree on 1-year deal
(St. Louis, MO) -- The St. Louis Cardinals avoided arbitration with infielder Daniel Descalso on Wednesday, agreeing to terms on a one-year contract.
The "St. Louis Post-Dispatch" reports that the contract is worth $1.29 million. The 27-year-old appeared in 123 games last season, posting five home runs, 42 RBI, 25 doubles and 43 runs scored while batting .238. Descalso owns a lifetime .243 average with 10 home runs and 101 RBI in 425 games since debuting with the Cardinals in 2010.
