Mark Prior Officially Retires

(Orlando, FL) -- Former Cubs right-hander Mark Prior is hanging up his cleats. The "St. Paul Pioneer Press" reports that Prior is officially retiring and could take a front office position with the Padres. Prior hasn't pitched since 2006 after breaking into the majors with the Cubs in 2002.

 

McCarver To Join Cards' Broadcast Team

(Lake Buena Vista, FL) -- FOX Sports Midwest is nearing completion of a deal that would add Tim McCarver to the Cards' broadcast booth next season. McCarver played 12 seasons with the Cardinals and recently wrapped up an 18-year career as a national baseball analyst alongside Joe Buck on FOX. The terms of the deal would have McCarver calling 20-25 games in 2014, according to MLB.com.

 

White Sox Sign Paulino

(Orlando, FL) -- It was mostly quiet for the White Sox on the first day of the Winter Meetings. The team did sign right-hander Felipe Paulino to a one-year, $1.75-million deal.  The pact includes a $4-million club option for 2015. The 30-year-old made seven starts for the Royals last year.

 

Former Sox OF Ordonez Elected Mayor In Venezuela

(Caracas, Venezuela) -- Former White Sox outfielder Maglio Ordonez has entered the world of politics. He has been elected mayor of Sotillo in his native Venezuela. Ordonez retired in 2012 after 15 seasons with the Sox and Tigers. His 294 career homers are second among Venezuelan-born players.
