Thomas, Maddux Among 19 New Hall of Fame Candidates

(New York, NY) -- Former White Sox slugger Frank Thomas and Cubs pitcher Greg Maddux are among 19 new candidates on the 2014 National Baseball Hall of Fame ballot. Players must be named on 75-percent of ballots to earn election. Results will be announced January 8, 2014.


Cubs Acquire Vet Kottaras

(Chicago, IL) -- The Cubs are bringing in veteran catcher George Kottaras via trade. Chicago sent cash considerations to the Royals in exchange for the 30-year-old Kottaras, who broke into the majors with the Red Sox when Theo Epstein was GM. Kottaras is a career .214 hitter.
