Wainwright Voted Cy Young Runner-Up

(St. Louis, MO) -- For the second time in his career, Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright has come in second place in the National League Cy Young voting  Wainwright finished 121 points behind Dodgers lefty Clayton Kershaw. The Cards hurler led NL pitchers in starts, innings pitched, wins, complete games and shutouts in 2013. His career-high 219 strikeouts ranked third among NL pitchers.

 

Scherzer, Kershaw Earn Cy Young Award

Tigers starter Max Scherzer and Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw are the winners of the American and National League Cy Young Awards. Scherzer grabbed 28 of the 30 first-place votes in the AL after going 21-3 with 240 strikeouts. Kershaw had 29 of the 30 NL first-place votes after a 16-9 season while leading the NL in ERA for the third straight year. It's his second NL Cy Young Award in the last three seasons.

 

Yankees' A-Rod To Meet With MLB Friday

(New York, NY) -- Embattled Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez is reportedly set to meet with MLB officials on Friday. The "Daily News" says A-Rod will interview with officials ahead of testifying in his arbitration hearing, which resumes on Monday.  Rodriguez is appealing his 211-game suspension handed down in August for his alleged ties with the Biogenesis anti-aging clinic and performance-enhancing drugs.
