Carlos Beltran ripped a game-winning single to score Daniel Descalso as the Cardinals earned a 3-2 win over the Dodgers in 13 innings in Game One of the NL Championship Series from St. Louis.
Beltran also knocked in the first two runs of the game for the Cards with a double in the third.
Joe Kelly pitched six innings of two-run ball in the start while Lance Lynn earned the win in relief with two shutout innings. St. Louis holds a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.
Zack Greinke struck out 10 over eight innings of two-run ball for Los Angeles. Juan Uribe singled in a pair in the third for the Dodgers, while Chris Withrow was saddled with the loss.
It was the longest postseason game time-wise in Dodgers history and the longest innings-wise in Cardinals history.
Game Two is set for 3:07pm today. Cardinals rookie Michael Wacha will start against Cy Young Award contender Clayton Kershaw for the Dodgers.
