St. Michael Advances in Regional, Jasper County Falls

Sigel St. Michael advanced in the Class 1A Findlay Okaw Valley Baseball Regional Tuesday. St. Michael edged Effingham Sacred Heart 6-5.

St. Michael advances to meet Findlay Okaw Valley at 10 a.m. Saturday. In the second game, Effingham St. Anthony takes on Dieterich at noon. The winners advance to the regional championship Monday.

 

Class 2A Teutopolis Regional

Brownstown opened play in the Class 2A Teutopolis Regional with a victory over Cumberland Tuesday.

Brownstown was a 13-7 winner and will now face Teutopolis at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Neoga blanked Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick 11-0. Neoga will now face Altamont at noon Saturday.

The winners of Saturday's games square off for the regional title Monday at 4:30 p.m.

 

Class 2A Sullivan Regional

Decatur Lutheran faced Blue Mound Meridian Tuesday and captured a 6-0 victory. Decatur Lutheran advances to face Shelbyville Moulton at 10 a.m. Saturday.

In the second contest Saturday, second-seeded Stewardson-Strasburg faces third-seeded Sullivan at 11:45 a.m. The winners meet Monday at 4:30 p.m. for the regional championship.

 

Class 3A Effingham Regional

Mattoon handed Jasper County a 9-6 loss in action Tuesday. Jasper County took a 6-1 lead in the second but Mattoon came back with a six-run fourth and tallied single runs in the sixth and seventh.

Garrette Branson had a home run and an RBI for the winners while Drew Wick had two singles. Mattoon advances to face Mount Zion at 10 a.m. Saturday followed by Effingham against Charleston at 11:30 a.m. The winners advance to the championship game Monday at 4 p.m.
